Nervous About Doorstep Deliveries, Milpitas?

After thieves were arrested this month for stealing packages, Milpitas PD shares tips to protect your stuff.

Two teenagers were caught earlier this month with packages stolen off doorsteps around Milpitas and the South Bay. What can you do to protect your things?

Milpitas Police offered this advice to make sure your deliveries stay safe.

  • Have your package delivered to a place where someone you know will be there and can accept it on your behalf.
  • Track the delivery. On the actual delivery date, one could leave a note for the driver asking it be left in the backyard or at a neighbors home (if you know the neighbor will be there). Or you could ask the driver not to leave it and deliver the package at another time or different day.
  • Keep tracking the package and once you see it has been delivered, return home to secure it or call someone to secure it for you.

"There are many steps one can take, but each individual must come up with something that will work for them," said Sgt. Raj Maharaj.
