Police Arrest 4 in Milpitas Sunday for DUIs

Total number of arrests in Santa Clara County since Friday through holiday weekend "Avoid the 13" campaign is 107; 4 in Milpitas.

Police have made β€œa significant number of DUI arrests” on the third day of a Santa Clara County DUI Campaign. On Sunday, they arrested 43 people, four in Milpitas, for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

From midnight Friday through midnight on Sunday, there were a total of 107 DUI arrests. They were given by local routine enforcement and special Avoid the 13 DUI enforcements, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office on Monday. The number is up from 72 DUI arrests that occurred last year during the same 72-hour period.

On Monday, extra DUI saturation patrols are being employed in the cities of Milpitas, Palo Alto, Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Altos Hills and San Jose.

Funding that pays for the overtime shifts for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
