Police Canine Helps Flush Burglar Out of Milpitas Home
Alert neighbor heard shattering glass at a nearby home and notified police.
After hearing glass being shattered at a neighboring home around 8 a.m. Aug. 29 a Daniel Court resident called police to report the incident. The caller said the glass appeared be from a rear patio window.
Responding officers determined there was a burglary-in-progress and surrounded the house, believing a suspect was inside. After making several announcements with no response, a police dog was sent into the house. The dog cleared the home’s interior with the exception of a bedroom door which was barricaded.

Officers forced their way into the bedroom and found a suspect hiding inside the home’s master bathroom. The suspect attempted to block the door, but was eventually taken into custody.
Milpitas Police identified the suspect as Joshua Jacquez, 34, a transient. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of burglary and resisting arrest.
