Police Stop Two for Prowling on Los Coches Street

Drugs also were found in the car.

Milpitas Police arrested one suspect and detained another on the 300 block of Los Coches St. on Sunday for prowling, resisting arrest and possessing narcotics.

Jeffrey Alan Calkins, 46, a transient, and a 55-year old Vacaville resident were stopped after officers responded to a burglary alarm and reports that a person was on the roof of a commercial building, according to police reports.

Officers arrived to find Calkins in front of the business. They tried to stop him and he fled on foot. While looking for Calkins they found the second suspect hiding in nearby bushes, according to reports.

While officers spoke with the person in the bushes, others spotted Calkins and chased him. He struggled with officers as they tried to handcuff him but eventually was arrested, according to reports.

Officers found tools used to cut pipe and wire, along with illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia, in a gold, four-door Saturn SL that the two were using.

Calkins was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for resisting arrest, prowling, posession of controlled substances, posession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of controlled substances. He already had two outstanding felony arrest warrants, according to reports.

The second suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment after suffering a medical emergency. An arrest warrant is requested for that person for possession of a controlled substance and prowling.
