Police Surveil, Arrest Group of Residential Burglars

Police conducted surveillance on a suspicious group of juvenile males, and saw them steal approximately $10,000 worth of personal property from a home Thursday.

Milpitas Police arrested four suspicious juvenile males Thursday after conducting surveillance on them in Milpitas and following them to a home in San Jose, where they witnessed them steal more than $10,000 in personal property from a home.

Just after 4 p.m. on Thursday, officers initiated surveillance on a suspicious white 1993 Acura in the 2000 block of Seacliff Drive in Milpitas. Four juvenile Asian males were in the vehicle.

Officers witnessed the suspects enter the backyard of two homes on Seacliff, and then return to their vehicle. The suspects drove around the neighborhood, and then entered a San Jose neighborhood that was just over the Milpitas border.

While some officers conducted follow-up investigations on Seacliff Drive, other officers continued surveillance on the vehicle full of suspects, and saw them pull over in front of a home in the 1200 block of Burnham Drive.

The officers watched the suspects exit their vehicle and enter the backyard of the home. Several minutes later, they exited the backyard carrying a pillowcase full of property. They got back into their vehicle and drove away toward Sierra Drive.

Officers inspected the Burnham Drive home and found it had been burglarized.

Uniformed officers then pulled the vehicle over and arrested the four suspects, who were teenage Asian males, all from San Jose. The officers recovered approximately $10,000 in stolen property, and returned it to its owner.

The officers that conducted the follow-up investigation on Seacliff Drive in Milpitas discovered that the suspects had unsuccessfully attempted to gain entry into two homes on that street.

All four suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall on charges of burglary, prowling and conspiracy. One of the suspects was also charged with possession of burglary tools and possession of the drug Ecstasy.
