Fire Saturday severely damaged the garage of a San Jose home, which also sustained damage, and displaced a family of 10, a fire captain said.
The fire was reported on Sibelius Avenue, near Rigoletto Drive, about 10:15 a.m., a San Jose fire captain told Patch.
Arriving firefighters saw flames in the garage and noted that the fire had spread into the attic space and burned through into the home's shared attic space, San Jose fire Capt. Michael Van Elgort said.
No one was injured in the blaze, which 28 firefighters had knocked down by 11 a.m., the captain told Patch.
The American Red Cross sent representatives to assist the residents with temporary housing and other needs, Van Elgort said.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation Saturday afternoon, Van Elgort said.
"We’re still trying to determine the ignition point," he told Patch.
The house sustained some water damage as well, he added.
