SJ Officer Shoots at Traffic-Stop Suspect

The suspect fled north on 680 on Sunday night.

A suspect who fled from police Sunday night was arrested after a police officer fired a gun at the suspect, police said.

About 8:37 p.m., officers near South King and Story roads spotted a Ford SUV that is wanted in connection with a weapons-related incident, police said.

When the officers attempted to stop the SUV, the driver sped away and headed north on Interstate Highway 680.

Police located the vehicle moments later in a residential neighborhood near the intersection of Ashglen and Ridgeglen ways.

While searching for the SUV's occupants, one of the investigating officers shot his gun at one of the suspects, police said.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, was unhurt in the shooting and was arrested without further incident, police said.

No injuries were reported in the shooting, which remains under investigation.
