Suspect Arrested in Hadnot Homicide

19-year-old man is in custody on suspicion of murder.

Union City Police investigators arrested a San Francisco man over the weekend in connection to the murder of Union City resident Keith Douglas Hadnot.

Alphonso Johnson, 19, is facing a homicide charge and is behind held at Santa Rita County Jail on no bail.

Johnson was in jail in San Francisco on a separate weapons charge and when he was released Sunday, Union City Police investigators arrested him.

According to online court documents, Johnson was scheduled to be arraigned at the Fremont Hall of Justice Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators said Johnson shot Hadnot on June 14, 2011 in the parking lot of Contempo Homes, a townhome community.

Hadnot was found dead on the 4100 block of Venus Place around 5 p.m. on June 14 when officers responded to a call of shots fired. He suffered from at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hadnot, who was 34 at the time of his death, was a Milpitas native who was living in Union City with his wife and five children. His loved ones described him as.

According to a report by The Argus, police are working on determining the motive of the incident.

"We know there was a confrontation that happened (before the shooting)," Horner told The Argus. "It appears to be a random act of violence."

Hadnot's death marked the third and final homicide in Union City for 2011. Anyone with information is asked to call at 510-675-5207.
