A pair of 19-year-old men who died as a result of injuries suffered in a San Jose crash were roommates living on the Milpitas border, a coroner official told Patch Sunday.
Carlos Flores died at the scene of the crash, Santa Clara Deputy Coroner Kris Barbrich told Patch.
Joseph Robert Sionne died later at Regional Medical Center of San Jose, according to the coroner's office.
A pair of 19-year-olds -- one of them a Milpitas man -- who died from injuries suffered in an early morning crash on Interstate 880 were identified Sunday.
Carlos Flores and Joseph Robert Sionne died of fatal injuries suffered in the early Saturday morning crash.
The Milpitas man was a passenger in the Chevrolet Cobalt that went off the northbound Interstate 880 -- south of Old Bayshore Highway -- and down an embankment about 1.40 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol Officer Eric Anderson.
The speeding car then went through a rock ditch and landed on the southbound 880 on ramp, Anderson told Patch.
The passenger -- he was not wearing a seat belt -- was ejected and died at the scene, the officer told Patch.
The driver, from San Jose, suffered major injuries and was taken to a trauma center, Anderson said; he was wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred.
He died at the hospital later, authorities said.
