Three Cars Stolen in Three Days at Great Mall

The cars, stolen Sat. through Mon., are part of 10 vehicle thefts that have occurred over the past week in Milpitas.

Three cars were stolen at the Great Mall three days in a row, two which are still missing, according to Milpitas Police.

On Saturday through Monday, a car was stolen from the parking lot of the Great Mall on the 1100 block of Great Mall Drive, according to Milpitas Police Sgt. Raj Maharaj.

The first theft of a 1997 Honda Civic occurred Saturday at 12:30 a.m. The vehicle has since been recovered, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department.

The second theft of 1990 VW Jetta occurred Sunday at 9:23 p.m., and the third theft of a 1993 Honda Civic occurred Monday at 10:53 p.m. Both vehicles are still reported as missing.

“Car thefts do occur a lot in general at malls,” said Sgt. Majaraj. “There’s the opportunity of many cars in one day.”

In the past seven days in Milpitas, there have been a total of 10 stolen cars, as reported by the Milpitas Police Department through the website crimereports.com.

To keep their cars secure, Sgt. Majaraj recommended that drivers always keep their doors locked, use security devices, and park in well-lit areas.
