Two Alarm Fire Damages Milpitas Residence
The fire department is still at the scene of the blaze.
Milpitas firefighters battled a two alarm blaze at an apartment building at 428 Dempsey Road late this morning. There were no deaths or injuries.
The fire is out, but crews remain at the scene mopping up operations and investigating the cause. “The fire was confined to one unit, which was about 50-percent destroyed,” Battalion Chief Robert Mihovich told Patch. “Residents are currently being kept out of the other seven units.”

Flames and smoke were visible when the first crews arrived shortly after 11 a.m., which prompted a second alarm. Fremont firefighters joined the Milpitas crews. San Jose firefighters moved into position to take other Milpitas calls, had the need arose. They were not dispatched to any emergencies.
The Red Cross is at the scene, providing help to emergency responders and residents, according to Mihovich.
