Two Arrested for Auto Theft

Men face charges after they were found with a stolen car.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of stealing a car on Thursday after they tried to flee officers responding to a 911 call, according to Milpitas Police Department.

Benito Lara, 18, of San Jose, and another man, 16, of San Jose, were found driving a 1990, four-door Honda Accord, according to police reports. The men were pulled over about 12:42 p.m. by officers responding to a 911 call at 1 Technology Drive. 

The younger man is not being named because he is a juvenile.

The caller, a security worker at KLA Tencor, said two people were trying to break into a parked car there, according to police reports. The caller said the two men left in the Accord, and gave police the license plate that led to the arrest, reports said. 

Police pulled the men over on the 800 block of Barber Lane. The two left the car and ran north on Barber, according to reports. They were found and arrested on the 600 block of Barber Lane.

Lara was booked into Santa Clara County jail for tampering with and theft of a vehicle. The 16-year old was booked into Juvenile Hall for posession of stolen property, according to reports.
