Two women were arrested in connection with a burglary at a tanning salon in Milpitas on Friday afternoon, police said.

San Jose residents Lourdes Oravillo, 46, and Patricia Castillon, 34, were taken into custody after officers responded to a report of a burglary in the 500 block of East Calaveras Boulevard shortly before 1 p.m. Friday.

According to police, the tanning salon employee reported that one of the suspects distracted her while the second stole money and other items from the salon.

The suspects fled before the clerk realized that the business had been burglarized, police said.

Police broadcast the suspects' descriptions over the police radio. A short time later, police located two women who matched the descriptions at a local hotel.

The clerk at the salon positively identified the two women, and Oravillo and Castillon were arrested without further incident, police said.

The stolen property was recovered and one of the suspects was found to be in possession of narcotics, according to police.

Oravillo and Castillon were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for burglary and conspiracy, police said.

Officers also questioned a man acquainted with the women and found him to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and stolen property, according to police.

He also gave officers a false name. The suspect, later identified as Melecio Padilla, 29, of San Jose, was arrested and booked into jail.
