Two Men Arrested on Suspicion of Stealing Copper Wire

The San Jose men stole the wire from the 1600 block of McCandless Drive, where police found them hiding.

Two San Jose men were arrested on suspicion of stealing copper wire from a commercial building in Milpitas on Friday morning, police said.

Police received a call from an employee at a nearby business at 9:17 a.m. reporting two suspicious people with a truck at a building in the 1600 block of McCandless Drive, according to Milpitas police Srgt. David Ostrander.

When police arrived at the building they found a Chevrolet pickup truck parked outside and noted that one of the building's windows had been  broken. Upon entering the building, police discovered two suspects hiding inside.

Police found that the suspects were in possession of wire pulling tools and determined that they were attempting to steal copper electrical wiring.

The two suspects, Randy Etzold, 45, and Jesse Flores, 44, were arrested for commercial burglary, conspiracy and possession of burglary  tools. Etzold and Flores were booked in to the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation or similar incidents is encouraged to call Milpitas police at (408) 586-2400 or anonymously at (408) 586-2500.
