UPDATE: Woman Named Who Died Sunday On 680

San Jose resident was 78.

A 78-year-old woman who died after being involved in a crash on Interstate Highway 680 on Sunday night has been identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office as Mai Le, of San Jose.

The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on northbound Highway 680 near the McKee Road exit in San Jose.

Le, along with two other women and a 16-year-old boy, was in a gold Lexus when another car passed the Lexus in the exit lane, causing the driver of the Lexus to swerve and lose control of the car, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Lexus struck an embankment, flipped over and landed right-side up, but facing the wrong direction. It then traveled south in the northbound lanes and hit a white Mercedes SUV head-on, CHP officials said.

Both cars then came to rest near the road's shoulder.

Le and the other three occupants of the Lexus were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.

At the hospital, Le's condition worsened, and she succumbed to her injuries around 11:10 p.m.

No occupants of the Mercedes SUV were hospitalized. One person complained of pain but refused medical treatment.

CHP officials said everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt, and that alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.
