Marlene LaMar Offers Tips to Help in Search for Sierra From Afar

Individuals living outside of the Morgan Hill area can participate in the search for Sierra LaMar—here's how.

The disappearance of Morgan Hill teen Sierra LaMar, who has been missing since March 16, has affected thousands of people from across the state, country and beyond. The Help Find Sierra LaMar Facebook page, created to provide updates regarding the LaMar case, has over 20,000 "likes" and several other Facebook pages have been created for the missing Sobrato High School student.

Over the course of Sierra's disappearance, thousands of individuals have invested countless hours in the search for Sierra, and many others have left comments on articles and the Gilroy Patch Facebook page asking how they can help in Sierra's recovery.

While Marlene LaMar, Sierra's mother, has encouraged the public to participate in weekly searches for Sierra, she also knows it isn't the most practical option for individuals living outside of the Morgan Hill area.

For individuals living outside of South County, Marlene has provided the below list of suggestions detailing the different ways to contribute to her daughter's recovery.

  • Search local creek areas, parks and other land where you live, especially near bodies of water since and he may be familiar with far-away waterways.
  • Increase awareness where you live by telling people you know about Sierra's case, posting her picture on your social media accounts, etc.
  • Be on the lookout for her and for any evidence you think may be related to her disappearance.
  • Post on your social media accounts that the search center remains open every Wednesday and Saturday. Let people know that Wednesday searches are happening mostly in the morning and aren't likely to continue the entire day, and that Saturday searches are last throughout the day.
  • Purchase t-shirts, buttons and car magnets from the search center to be distributed where you live. T-shirts and magnets are being sold for $10 and buttons for a cheaper price. Funds raised from the sale of these items go toward the .

Authorities believe Sierra was kidnapped and murdered by Morgan Hill resident Antolin Garcia-Torres, 21, . He is being held in Santa Clara County Jail and is set to appear in court on July 31.

Notice how the comments left here distract the reader from the main article? Sometimes its best to not allow for others to come in and trash the news page. Did you find the house of your dreams yet? I think heather is a victim on this page. Even the well respected Marc Klass is bashing her. Yes Marc she may be out of her mind is that against the law? Why don’t you people who know so much eliminate some of those redundant facebook pages for Sierra? How many pages does she need? And look at all the stuff they say about her. Are they doing that to your daughter on facebook, and how would Mr Klass feel if he were to read trash about his own daughter? I know if my daughter ever turns up missing; facebook will be the last to know about it because of what they are doing to Sierra. It’s just a dream Debbie.

I know it is frustrating to do all that searching and read Heather’s world. But Blame the news groups who make these pages for money and invite people like me, Heather, Lisa, and Pete, to come in and make noise. Please read the Title at the top of the page: “Marlene LaMar Offers Tips to Help in Search for Sierra From Afar. Individuals living outside of the Morgan Hill area can participate in the search for Sierra LaMar—here's how.” (I see even more "guessing" or speculation here then even the sisters try to give the media. You should just stop Heather, you are making yourself look really foolish trying to defend such a awful person. He is involved.) Your right; they need closure. It’s like What Mr. Smith was trying to point out. Are we looking for houses now? Read the Chelsea King story on the internet or facebook, and it may help people to find Sierra. Perhaps if the accused is convicted he might talk to them… I’m sorry Heather. Notice she is not here anymore? Don’t let these people bully you!!! Thank the news group for setting a trap ”What do you think” Next time don’t ask. Just get rid of this page its old NEWS and it might upset more people. That is a good point.

What started it all Heather? Did get scared when you read the news? And like his mother; would not believe it’s true??? What your saying is all right for you. we have the right to believe what sounds to us be believable. But there are many people on the internet that can’t handle it, anything that points to Mother losing her daughter and framing someone is just dangerous for you or me to say here. We never know who we are talking to and never know who reads and just goes away. Whatever happened to a safe internet??? And why if we never knew her is she suddenly missing? These pages are disturbing to people. They are an assault on the senses of their readers. Are they really designed to help find a missing girl or just stir up more trouble for mother??? Help mom; Please stop hitting her with your ”NEWS PAGES” What does NANCY Grace have to say...I missed that interview? Lets pray that Marlene LaMar will offer some tips to the Gillroy’s
