Witnesses Come Forward in LaMar Kidnapping

Details are emerging on the red Volkswagen Jetta linked with Sierra LaMar's disappearance.


 

News about a is apparently prompting witnesses to come forward, according to Marlene LaMar.

“It’s just that, with the release of the vehicle that’s out and talking to the media, more people are coming forward,” LaMar said. “I can’t disclose specifically, but law enforcement is interviewing witnesses that are coming forward because of all of that. More people are coming forward, so that’s been a positive thing."

Although detectives working on the LaMar case , LaMar said authorities are currently looking into whether the VW is the right vehicle, and whether depicts the vehicle in the right location, among other things.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Jose Cardoza said interviews continue to take place, but couldn’t confirm whether more witnesses have specifically resulted from the vehicle.

“Reporters were saying, ‘Oh yeah, you guys were interviewing witnesses because of the car, just in general,” Caroza said. “But to this point, [detectives] haven’t put out information on who exactly they're interviewing.”

Cardoza said investigators have interviewed subjects from all the general categories, like family, neighbors, friends and people who have been interviewed as the result of tips and leads, but that authorities aren’t disclosing how the interviewees are related to the case.

Sierra's mother, Marlene LaMar, is a graduate of Milpitas High School.

Wednesday, May 16, marked the . Steve LaMar blogged about the anniversary, stating that the public's support has helped the LaMar family cope and move forward with Sierra's recovery. Steve's post can be read below. 

"Although today marks the painful 2-month milestone since my daughter Sierra went missing, my family and I remain positive and confident that she will be back home safe with us soon.

The outstanding care, love and support that the community has shown, enables my family and I to cope with this day and all the previous days since March 16. We are so thankful for this.

We will continue to do everything we can to find Sierra and bring her back safe to us. I ask everyone to keep Sierra in your hearts, thoughts and prayers."
