Women Arrested for Copper Theft

Duo found with copper pipe and smoking pipe, among other things.

Two women were arrested on burglary charges after police found them with copper wire, copper pipe, a hypodermic needle and a meth pipe in and around a vacant business this morning.

About 3:53 a.m., a Milpitas Police officer spotted a cut fence that circles a vacant business, according to police reports. While investigating, officers noticed a flashlight beam inside the building. There they found Donica Martinez, 29, of San Jose with copper pipe and wire that had been removed from the business.

Police found Deborah Ibarra, 50, of San Jose, in her car parked outside the building, according to reports. Officers also found more copper from the business, a hypodermic needle and and methamphetamine smoking pipe inside the car.

Both women were booked into jail. Martinez was charged with burglary and posession of burglary tools. Ibarra was charged with burglary, posession of burglary tools, posession of hypodermic needles and being under the influence of a narcotic, according to police reports.
