Milpitas Vice-Mayor Shy of Votes for Nov. Runoff

Preliminary election results show McHugh getting the least votes in race for the 25th State Assembly seat.

Milpitas Vice-Mayor Pete McHugh appeared ready for a November runoff against state Assemblyman Bob Wieckowski on Tuesday evening in the race for a seat in the California Assembly.

But according to preliminary results Wednesday morning, the local city leader garnered the least amount of votes during Tuesday's primary elections.

Results early Wednesday showed Wieckowski received the most support with 58.9 percent of votes, and Republican Arlyne Diamond trails behind in second with 28.02 percent of votes.

McHugh received 13.41 percent of votes.

While the numbers are subject to change, odds are low that McHugh would gain enough votes to advance to November.
