Obama departs Moffett Field quietly
President's Bay Area visit adds to re-election campaign coffers
After a quick 16-hour visit to the Peninsula and San Jose, President Barack Obama left the region at 10:20 a.m. today aboard Air Force, departing from Moffett Field.
After arriving at Moffett Field at 6 p.m. Wednesday, the president and his motorcade were constantly on the move. First stop was a campaign fund-raiser at the home of philanthropists Lisa and Doug Goldman in Atherton. Next was a sold-out appearance at the Fox Theater in downtown Redwood City.
The president reportedly spent the night at the Fairmont Hotel in downtown San Jose where he made an appearance at an 8 a.m. roundtable there to support the Asian American/Pacific Islander community. The event was closed to the public and press.
