Open Government Laws: Necessary or Unnecessary?

Open Government laws should not even be necessary if our "elected" politicians understood their job and their mission. But, since they have drifted (some worse than others) from their elected objectives, then it is up to we the voters to keep them on task, on track, and honest. And, whatever laws are enacted they must be enforced with a vengeance otherwise they will be meaningless.

I don't know much about the subject, but government oversight is always good. But it doesn't need to go as far as surveilling the comings and goings of government officials.
