Church Raises $10K for Sinnott Elementary

New Vision Church walk-a-thon brings in money for Sinnott Elementary, Milpitas Food Pantry and San Jose nonprofit InnVision that serves the homeless.

Leaders of the New Vision Church presented a five-figure check to the Sinnott Elementary principal and PTA officers at the school board meeting on Tuesday night.

The $10,195.91 amount is exactly a third of the total raised from the Loving Neighbors Walk-a-thon last month to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the church. It was the first walk-a-thon for the church, according to the deacons.

About 1,000 church members got pledges and walked the Milpitas High track on a Saturday morning to bring in money for Sinnott Elementary, Milpitas Food Pantry and InnVision, a housing and service provider for homeless families and individuals.

Senior Pastor David Yi said the chose Sinnott Elementary, because it is the closest school to the church, located on Montague Expressway on the Milpitas and San Jose border.
