Campbell had three big races Tuesday night and the results have voted out incumbents and voted in new faces.

Westmont High School graduate Kalen Gallagher will be one of those new faces. Retired Campbell Union High School District teacher Linda Goytia edged out incumbent Diane Gordon at the lastest count Thursday by 81 votes.

"Throughout this race it was very clear that community members throughout West San Jose, Campbell, Los Gatos, Saratoga, Santa Clara, and Monte Sereno were passionate about solving the issues that have affected this district for years," says Campbell Union High School District elected board member Kalen Gallagher. "I think our victory yesterday is proof that our community is ready for fresh ideas.

The Campbell Union High School District race was a tight one. Incumbent Rick Costanzo was edged out by Gallagher and Goytia. Gallagher receieved 25,360 votes or 30 .07 percent while Goytia received 20,077 votes or 23.81 percent. Costanzo received 18,895 votes or 22.41 percent. The fourth candidate for the board of trustees, incumbent Diane Gordon received 19,996 votes or 23.71 percent.

He watched the elections from his home with a few close friends and family members, he said.

"Over the past few months we've built a strong coalition of parents, students, teachers, and community members," Gallagher says. "If we are going to truly solve all the issues facing our district, we need to devote some serious time to organizing our community members, alumni, and local businesses around the success of our schools - not only so that their voices are heard - but also so we ensure that we take full advantages of the resources and solutions they can provide."
