In order to compete for the National Merit Scholarships, they must have outstanding grades and make high marks on their SAT tests. Each student also must complete an application with an essay and get recommendations from school principal Ken Schlaff.
Finalists will be considered for $2,500 scholarships from the National Merit Corporation as well as additional corporate-sponsored and college/university-sponsored scholarships.
