UPDATE: Lockdown During School Hours at Rancho, Sinnott

A suspicious person on school grounds triggered a lockdown on two school campuses Thursday.

A suspicious man triggered a lockdown Thursday afternoon at Rancho Middle School and nearby Sinnott Elementary. At the time, the man was thought to be possibly carrying a gun, and administrators took a precautionary measure.

"It was reported that a man was on campus allegedly with a weapon," according to Rancho Principal Leticia Villa-Gascon's message to parents. "Therefore, our school was put on lockdown following our district's emergency safety protocol."

TheΒ incident took place Thursday during school hours at around 12:31 p.m.,Β according to police. The man was found in the Rancho Middle School office, taken into custody and determined to be a relative of a student. No firearm was found.

Santino Carucci was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara Main Jail for possession of a large knife on school grounds, according to police. The knife was found after police searched his car.
