Most Challenging Accomplishment: It’s hard to narrow it down to just one. Vicky is truly a renaissance girl, so we asked her to identify what she felt was the most challenging of all her accomplishments.

Over the summer, she took on the nerve-racking task of being the student conductor for the Milpitas Community Concert Band. At the time, Vicky was the youngest musician in the band and admitted feeling intimidated by the fact that she had to direct so many talented musicians with more experience than her.

With lots of support from her band mates, the concert was a success and she learned a lot in the process.

Key to Awesomeness: Vicky says that while her parents are very proud of everything she accomplishes, they don’t make suggestions or push her to participate in any activities. Her schedule is her own responsibility, and she credits persistence and ability to prioritize as necessary attributes to carrying such a full load.

Another important aspect is the fact that she loves every activity she does. The thought of having to cut back on any one of her activities is not an option, so she always finds a way to fit everything in.

Leisure Activities: When she gets free time, Vicky can be found surfing Facebook and doing lots of reading. When she gets into a new book, Vicky says she finds it hard to focus on anything else until she finishes it. She also tries to attend as many school events as she can. She recently was able to attend three different plays put on by her school’s theater department in one weekend!

More to Come: Vicky says her focus in college will be math, but she plans to minor in music and play in the college band. She is in Advanced Placement statistics, which is the highest level of math offered at her school. Vicky is considering taking some math courses at a local college during her senior year and is excited to start looking at colleges this summer.
