Milpitas Schools to Offer Transitional Kindergarten

Is your child eligible?

Children who turn 5 between Nov. 2 and Dec. 2 are eligible for transitional kindergarten in Milpitas public schools.

The decision to offer the program comes after California officials changed the age cutoff date for kids to enroll in kindergarten. Students now must turn 5 before Nov. 2, instead of Dec. 2 as previously required.

Transitional kindergarten is the first of a two-year program. Students are prepared for traditional kindergarten with focuses in social, emotional, physical and cognitive development, according to school officials.

Parents should call their resident elementary school for more information, to sign up or complete registration.
