You played it in the school yard as a child.
Now, thanks to cult classic films like "Dodgeball," starring Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn, the childhood sport is suddenly cool again.
If you want to play a rousing game of dodgeball in front of a gym full of enthusiastic fans, now is the time to gather your team and sign up for the Milpitas Parks and Recreation Department's "Rec of the Irish" tournament, back by popular demand on March 17 at the .
Sign-ups begin Feb. 20. Teams of six to 10 people can register by mail or in person at the Parks and Recreation offices up until Feb. 25. The registration fee is $170 for a non-resident team, $150 for a team that is made up of at least 51 percent Milpitas residents, or $160 for a corporate team from a Milpitas company. Non-Milpitas corporate teams can sign up as a non-resident team.
All team members will receive a tournament t-shirt, and every team is guaranteed a minimum of two games. The four winning teams will advance to the tournament play-offs.
