One of these Fridays, the Milpitas High football team will get to finish a game.

The Trojans game was suspended with 11:55 left in the second quarter due to lightning. Referees called the game with Milpitas up 7-0 after a late touchdown late in the first quarter.

With under four minutes to play in the first frame, sophomore running back Squally Canada scored on a seven-yard run into the end zone. After the extra point by starting quarterback Tony Sauceda, Milpitas went up 7-0.

Early in the second quarter, lightning struck in the hills and referees sent both teams to their locker rooms. Both teams remained inside for over 30 minutes before the refs called the game.

After a long meeting between both head coaches, a Central Coast Section official, and Milpitas Athletics Director Jeff Lamb, it was decided that the game would resume on Saturday if weather permits.
