GIRLS BASKETBALL: Lady Trojans vs. Santa Teresa

Opponent Santa Teresa High coasts to a 56-36 win in the CCS playoffs on Feb. 24.

The Milpitas High girls varsity basketball team played Santa Teresa High for CCS playoffs at a home game on Wednesday night. The Lady Trojans (13-11 overall, 7-2 at home) started off by scoring first, but after the first quarter trailed 7-19.

The home team's attack was blunted by successive 3-point shots by Santa Teresa's leading scorer, Cassidy Sanders-Curry (33). At the half, Milpitas was trailing 19-32. Despite some maneuvering to find some rhythm, especially by the Lady Trojans' high scorer Sydnie Turner, with 12 points, the Saints kept up the pressure. In the end, their opponent would coast to a 56-36 win, with almost half of the score attributable to Sauders-Cassidy, with 24 points.
