SOFTBALL: Milpitas JV Team is Undefeated

Trojans still perfect in El Camino with only four games remaining.

With the Milpitas High varsity baseball and softball teams right on track to qualify for the upcoming Central Coast Section playoffs, the Milpitas junior varsity softball team has been keeping up with the successful trend quite nicely.

Currently 8-0 in Santa Clara Valley Athletic League El Camino Division play, the Trojans sit only four games away from a perfect league title run through the league schedule.

Pitcher Jalaena Bumagat and first baseman/pitcher Breana Pawlovich both have led the charge in the circle and at the plate for the Trojans.

Other key contributors include freshman Veronica Minor, who has played an effective role at second base, and sophomore returnees, Maggie Brown and Katie Blackburn.

Blackburn blasted her first homerun on Friday.  Durable catcher Victoria Sanchez has caught every game this season, catching effectively for three different pitchers along with way.

Milpitas won a pair of tightly contested battles with Los Altos High this season, edging the league rival, 5-3 and 5-2 respectively in the two wins.

The regular season ends on May 11 against Gunn High. If the Trojans hold on to capture the league title, they will become the first team since 2007 to bring home the prestigious honor.
