Trojans Open Playoffs On Friday Against Mountain View

Milpitas will face Mountain View on Friday at home in the first round of the Central Coast Section Division I playoffs.

After wrapping up the regular season on Thursday, the Milpitas High Football team spent the weekend eagerly awaiting news about who the team will face in the first round of this year’s playoffs.

On Sunday, Milpitas found out it will open up the postseason against Mountain View on Friday at home at 7:00 p.m. in a Central Coast Section Division IΒ match-up between the two league rivals.

Back on September 30, the Spartans handed Milpitas its first loss of the season in a 44-28 tilt, ending the Trojans three-game winning streak.

Since 2004, the two teams have gone 4-3 against one another in the regular season, with the edge going to the Trojans, who are ranked No. 4 in the Division I bracket, with the Spartans in the No. 5 slot.

Both schools finished the season with winning records, as the Trojans went 4-3 in league play and 7-3 overall, while the Spartans went 4-2-1 and 6-3-1.

It was the best record the Trojans have posted since 2009, when the team finished 8-2 on their way to a Division I championship. Milpitas will look to repeat its success from the 2009 season in its first round match-up.
