Trojans To Face Padres In Semi-Finals this Saturday

The Milpitas High School football team will face Serra on Saturday in the semi-finals of the Central Coast Section Division I playoffs.

The road to the Central Coast Section Championship is never an easy journey in football.

After in the opening round of the CCS Division I playoffs, the football team will now have to face an even greater opponent in the semi-finals.

The No. 4 Trojans will take on No. 1 Serra High on Saturday at 1 p.m. in San Mateo. It will be the first meeting between the two schools since 2002, when Milpitas won 14-13 over the Padres in the playoffs.

Serra finished second in the West Catholic League with an 8-2 overall record during the regular season. Last week, the Padres easily moved past Wilcox in the first round with a 38-6 victory.

Saturday’s match-up should be an exciting match-up between the Padres’ explosive offense and the Trojans’ stingy defense. During the regular season, Serra averaged 35.6 points per game, while Milpitas held its opponents to 18.8 points per game and averaged 3.4 sacks.

The winner of Saturday’s game will move onto the Division I championship on Dec. 3 against the winner of the No. 2 Menlo-Atherton and No. 6 Salinas.
