Milpitas Host Families Needed For Japanese Exchange Students

The Milpitas Lions Club is looking for host families for seven students from August 11-25. Apply immediately.

Want to welcome a Japanese exchange student into your family this summer?

The Milpitas Lions Club is looking for homes to place seven students in from August 11 to 25, according to Thelma Batilo, the region chair for Lions Club International. There are a total of 30 students coming through the annual program, which fosters cultural exchange and understanding.

“The ultimate goal is to have each participant, upon returning home, apply the greater awareness and appreciation of others to fellow students, friends and family; to foster harmony toward good will in international relations,” according to the basic guidelines on the program.

The guidelines ask families to accept the visiting students as a member of the family, and not just a guest. Families arrange a schedule of nearby things to do and places to see, as well as spending time at home.

The Lions Club is asking families interested in hosting to fill out the application attached to this article, and scan, email, or fax to 1-888-531-5592.
