Muslims for Life Blood Drive at Milpitas Library

Donate the gift of life on Saturday from 11a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m., at the Milpitas library.

Editor's note: This is a table for signups to donate blood for September. The blood drive is not physically taking place at the library.

Nearly halfway into the month, the  in Milpitas and participating groups across the country are more than halfway to reaching their goal of 10,000 pints.

Blood, that is. The Ahmaddiya Muslim Community launched the Muslims for Life campaign to remember the victims of 9/11. One pint of blood can save up to 30,000 lives.

Signups at the  are happening this weekend. Come on Saturday or Sunday to pledge your support. Make an appointment with a volunteer and help the organizers reach their nationwide goal.

As of September 14, they had collected more than 7,000 pints. Now they have more than two weeks left to reach their goal of 10,000.

Here's how you can help. In the Bay Area, appointments are available through the American Red Cross in downtown San Jose, Newark, Oakland and Pleasanton. To register online, search under sponsor code CODERED. Using the code, your donation will be credited toward the 10,000-pound goal that the Muslims for Life campaign hopes to reach. 

Muslims for Life blood drives have taken place in Texas, Georgia, Rhode Island, New Jersey and many other states.
