Operation: Girl Scout Cookies

Girl Scouts were invited to Moffett Field to assist with the distribution of 33,600 boxes of cookies to military troops last Thursday.

Military personnel as far away as Fresno and other parts of California came to Moffett Field to pick up Girl Scout cookies and other donations last Thursday.

The distribution center was the U.S. Army Reserve Consolidated Motor Pool, 7th PSYOP Group/12th PSYOP Battalion.

When they arrived, a group of Milpitas Girl Scouts from Troop 60596 were there to lend a hand.

All Girl Scout troops in Milpitas sold a combined 636 boxes through the “Gift of Caring” last spring.

The overall distribution of cookies on Thursday consisted of 2,800 cases (12 boxes of cookies to a case). The distribution was organized by San Jose based nonprofit Operation: Care and Comfort which serves about 150 units overseas in Iraq, Afghanistan and other conflict zones.

After a few hours, the Girl Scouts had loaded about three-fourths of the cookies that were distributed that day.
