<p>The most popular public building in Milpitas, the library is visited daily by about 2,200 readers and internet users. Since the new location opened in 2009, the number of visitors has increased 17 percent. </p>
<p>The two-story building and free parking garage covers a 60,000 square-feet, larger than an NFL football field. Features include:</p> <ul> <li>newspapers and magazines in the historic grammar school</li> <li>children's library and activity area</li> <li>teen reading room</li> <li>computers with internet access on the second floor</li> <li>wi-fi throughout the building</li> <li>private study rooms reserved for two hours at a time</li> <li>an academic and career center</li> <li>an auditorium for public and private events </li> <li>self-checkout machines</li> </ul> <p>The Milpitas Public Library is the second most widely circulated branch in the Santa Clara County Library system after Cupertino. The community librarian is Linda Arbaugh, who supervises 60 staff (40 full-time) and numerous volunteers.</p>
