With a gym, fitness center, several playing fields, swimming pools and classrooms, this city gives private gyms a run for their money. At $50 a month or $5 for drop-ins ($3 for residents with free membership), the Milpitas Sports Center offers more options with less of an impact on the wallet.

The gym features 33 pieces of equipment with TVs. Personal trainers are available (at an extra cost). Two swimming pools, a 25-yard and a 25-meter (both heated), are available for adult lap swimming. Youth ages 6 - 18 can train after school and compete on a USA sanctioned swim team (at an extra cost). Open swimming for kids is available in the training pool during summer months.

The sports center maintains outdoor fields where adult teams compete on Tuesday (co-ed softball) and Thursday nights (basketball and men's softball). Registration packets are available early July in which there is a one-week window period to sign-up with fee. Drop-in games are on designated nights for three sports: badminton (Tuesday), volleyball (Wednesday) and basketball (Friday).

Summer camps for youth ages 5 - 12 are available from June to August.
