The only federal post office in town gets busy in the afternoons, with a line of customers sending packages first-class, UPS, priority or express. A FedEx pickup box is located outside the front gate.

The Milpitas branch is a hub for passport services. In addition, the clerks are bilingual, speaking a second language (mostly Tagalog or Chinese).

The last mail pick-up on weekdays is 4:45pm (outside) and 5pm (inside). But not to worry, the San Jose branch on 1750 Lundy Avenue stays open until 8pm.

Milpitas has one other zip code, 95036, that applies to the PO boxes. They can be rented for six months or one year online and are also accessible during closed hours.

While customers can buy greeting cards, boxes and packing material here, this branch does not have a stamp machine, nor does it offer automated services found at other sites.

The post office takes debit cards and six credit cards, including American Express, Discover, and Diner's Club. Money orders are also sold here.

The postmaster is Catherine Sherear.

Stores that offer postal services in Milpitas include Fed Ex, route: {:action=>"show", :controller=>"listings", :id=>"fedex-office-print-ship-center-117"} -->, The UPS Store, Post N Parcel, Mail R-Us and <!-- name: The Postal Shop.
