Once you arrive, you need only take a few steps before hitting The Great Mall, Century 21 theatres and several dining options, including Fresh Choice and Outback Steakhouse. A few more steps will lead you to the Parc Metropolitan Parks, Home Depot, Dave & Buster's and Lunar Golf. If you decide this isn't the stop for you, feel free to catch one of the ten buses that meet at this station.
The Great Mall/Main St Station serves as a transit center between the Alum Rock-Santa Teresa lines and several buses that will take you throughout the bay area. The bus routes available for transfer include, 33, 46, 47, 66, 70, 71, 77, 180, 217, 321. You can even catch an express bus to the Fremont Bart for $4.
Tickets prices vary depending on usage. A single ride adult ticket (good for two hours) is $2, while a youth is $1.75. And if you need more time, a day pass is $5 for adults and $4 for youth. Located on East Capitol and Trimble Road, this station lands you right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of…More Milpitas. Conveniently located next to The Great Mall, Heald College and Montague Expressway, this stop is a great launching point.
The elevated platform makes for great views of the city and keeps you out of the way of the chaotic traffic below. Self ticketing machines and plenty of shaded benches are spread across the platform.
Be mindful that there are no parking lots or many places to park on the street. If you need to park and ride, use the Great Mall/Main St Station.
Ticket prices are very reasonable and depend on usage. Adult single ride s are $2; youth ride for $1.75. Adult day passes run $5; youth, $4. Other passes and discounts are available and can be found on the VTA website.
The Montague Station is also a proposed stop on the new Bart extension plan. This 10 mile extension is slated to begin in 2012. The proposed station is to have a ground-level concourse and an underground boarding area. It will connect with the light rail station via a pedestrian bridge.
