The Kiwanis Club of Milpitas is a service organization sponsoring hands-on projects that focus on special needsMore of the community, helping the elderly and youth. They sponsor the Milpitas High School Key Club. The president is Becky Strauss.

Kiwanis projects during the year include:

  • Jack Emery Food Drive in mid-December which benefits the Milpitas Food Pantry with several hundred turkeys and many thousands of cans of donated food items.
  • The Milpitas Unified School District (MUSD) Crab Feed in March
  • Sponsorship of the Milpitas High school Key Club
  • A clean up or beautification at the Kiwanis One Day  in April
  • Milpitas Post Father of the Year in mid-June       
  • Serve breakfast at the Relay for Life       
  • Provide Cal Hills High School Students with scholarships toward college called "Turn Around Scholarships" 
  • Kohl's Cares for Kids event provides 80 to 100 students with $100.00 in school uniforms and school clothes
  • Winter Child Spree providing school clothes for 10 to 30 kids                              

The Kiwanis Club of Milpitas meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. at Omega Restaurant. The fifth Wednesday meetings, when they occur, are evening meetings and the club meets at a different local restaurant.

About 3,500 businesses operate in the city, and there's only one umbrella organization that represents them all. TheMore Milpitas Chamber of Commerce is a sure way to network and promote your interests as an owner or manager, whether you run a corporation or or are self-employed.

The Board of Directors meets the last Thursday of the month at 7:30am. Rather than attend meetings, members are encouraged to participate in social events, such as the speaker series, after-hours mixers, the connection club, the annual crab feed and more.  

Benefits for members include special rates for events, as well as discounts to other businesses that belong to the chamber. For example, Office Depot will take 15 to 25 percent off your total bill upon presenting your chamber membership.

The chamber publishes a business directory (in print and online) of members. In addition, the organization prints a map of the city each year complete with business listings and ads. 

A newsletter on governmental affairs and business developments is mailed to members and can be found online
