Firefighters at this station generallyMore respond to emergency medical calls from homes and workplaces, from the northern part of the city down to Calaveras Boulevard, east of the railroad to I-680.</p> <p>It also handles fires in the county and state lands along the hillside when needed. There is a type six wildland fire engine housed at the station equipped with a lighter hose and four-wheel drive.</p>

The firefighters at this station mostly respond to medical emergencies in homes and workplaces, east of MilpitasMore Blvd. and south of Jacklin Rd.  </p> <p>They also covers hillside fires, working with firefighters from Cal-Fire, the City of San Jose, and volunteers from Spring Valley. Station No. 2 houses an engine called the "Brush Patrol" to climb over hard-to-reach areas with its 4x4 capability.  </p> <p>American Medical Response (AMR), the paramedics that the county contracts with, has a unit housed here.</p> <p>The city's Lend-A-Tool Shed is housed in the back, but is not operated by the fire station. This location is the headquarters for the fire department, which includes administrative offices and a tall towerMore used for training.  At any given moment, one battalion chief and seven firefighters are stationed here. The battalion chief's command vehicle is reserved for situations where it is necessary to direct personnel on location.</p> <p>Among the various trucks and engine, the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) is used for collapses and heavy rescue. This vehicle carries special tools, including the jaws-of-life, the ability to fill air bottles and on-scene lighting.</p> <p>Fire station No. 1 generally covers the area from I-880 east to the railroad tracks, from the north part of the city down to Calaveras Boulevard. </p>
