Against the backdrop of the Calaveras hills, the Pioneer Mobile Home Park resembles a summer resort for retirees.More Here, every resident is 55 years or older and pets are allowed. The clubhouse, open from 9am to 9pm, has a TV, Bingo tables, reading room, fireplace, and best of all, a pool with shower facilities. Grandchildren are allowed to visit and use the pool until 2pm, then the seniors take over.

Pioneer is a quiet residence consisting of 180 mobile homes and maintained by residents who work here as management staff. Security personnel are not needed as there is an active Neighborhood Watch.

Pioneer doubles as a precinct voting location. The Alameda County Library Bookmobile stops here to distribute books.

A mobile-home park for seniors, Mobilodge offers community and affordability. The central lodge is an A-frame two-storyMore building with a TV, fireplace, book nook, billiard table and kitchen. It's not uncommon to wander in and find a group of residents playing mah-jongg or enjoying a dip in the pool. Residents own their own homes, but pay for the rental space and utilities. The asking price for a two-bedroom, two-bath mobile home on the market in 2010 was $160,000. To live at Mobilodge, you or your spouse must be 55 or older, with no dependents under 18 years of age.

This salon is tucked away in the most unusual of places--the entrance to the Pioneer Mobile home Park off North MilpitasMore Boulevard. Van's haircuts start at $7 for men and increases for women, depending on hair length. Manicures are $10, and pedicures are $20. Facials and wax are available as well.
Friendly Village of Milpitas

Nearly 200 mobile homes comprise this village-like setting. The houses are owner-occupied, but the space is rentedMore from a management company that keeps the shared facilities spic and span.  

Social gatherings such as Christmas dinner are held at the clubhouse, a central building with a kitchen, fireplace and billiard table. Residents can also reserve this facility for personal use, like birthday parties.

A swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and playground are available for daily use.  The laundry building has eight coin-operated washers and dryers.  RVs and boats can be stored for $50 per month. Security guards patrol the mobile-home park at night.

Children attend nearby schools: Palmeroy Elementary, Russell Middle and Milpitas High. 

Friendly Haircuts is also located here and offers the cheapest cuts in town. Stylist Katie Phan charges $5.99 for a men's cut and starts at $7 for women's.
