The newest of the Santa Clara Valley Medical Centers, the Milpitas site provides primary care, pediatrics, ob/gyn,More and general dentistry for underinsured patients. The county expects to serve about 70,000 patients from the surrounding areas each year. The three-story building, across from the Milpitas library, has 49 exam rooms, three treatment rooms and a parking structure with 275 spaces.  The site also includes a pharmacy and lab. WIC offices can also be found here.  There is no emergency room.

 

The Reading Program

The Reading Program is an adult education program dedicated to providing written language comprehension to EnglishMore speakers in the Santa Clara County Library service area. In addition to reading, it also teaches basic math, writing and computer skills; classes are two hours each week, and are available at no cost to the student. Students must be at least 16 years old and no longer attending school, with a reading/writing level below that of a 9th grade student.

The most popular public building in Milpitas, the library is visited daily by about 2,200 readers and internet users.More Since the new location opened in 2009, the number of visitors has increased 17 percent. 

The two-story building and free parking garage covers a 60,000 square-feet, larger than an NFL football field. Features include:

  • teen reading room
  • computers with internet access on the second floor
  • wi-fi throughout the building
  • private study rooms reserved for two hours at a time

  • an auditorium for public and private events

The Milpitas Public Library is the second most widely circulated branch in the Santa Clara County Library system after Cupertino. The community librarian is Linda Arbaugh, who supervises 60 staff (40 full-time) and numerous volunteers.
