MILPITAS ROTARIANS SERVE AND ARE RECOGNIZED

Milpitas Rotarians volunteered to cook and serve dinner to Milpitas Relay For Life participants and volunteers at the 2013 Cancer Society event held in the Milpitas Sports Center on Saturday, June 22 to 10 AM Sunday June 23. They included President Mark Tiernan, Don Peoples, Dr. Tama Mumah, Robin Hays, Todd Flesner and his daughter Tara, Bill Cilker, Debbie Indihar Giordano, and Carol Kassab.

Rotarian cooks set up a large grill for hot dogs, burgers, and tri-tip beef that was served with delicious salads, Carol's Chuck Wagon Beans, plus chips and soft drinks all donated with proceeds going to Relay For Life.

Milpitas Rotary's large inflatable slide was set up for the children there with the Milpitas Police Officers Association (MPOA) and Rotarian Officer Eric Emmanuele in charge.

President Mark Tiernan presented special awards to fellow Rotarians at their Monday, June 24 meeting.

New Rotarian Red Badger Officer Eric Emmanuele received the "Rookie Of The Year" Award for his standout and tireless efforts on club projects and fundraisers.

Norm Lacroix was honored with Milpitas Rotary's "Rotarian Of The Year" Award in recognition for his international project to raise the $20,000 needed for a shipping container filled with sorely needed medical supplies that were collected and sent to an impoverished hospital in the very poor town of Chinandega, Nicaragua.

Other Rotarians received award certificates for their diligent efforts during Rotary Year 2012-13 with  humorous themes.

The Milpitas Rotary Club meets on Mondays at noon in Brandon's Restaurant at the Beverly Heritage Hotel.
